Dear Member of the Governmental Organization Committee,

Nightlife is a critical engine in our state economy. Not only good for local businesses, nightlife also plays an important role in the tourism industry, which is a critical source of revenue for our state and cities. I’m writing to you to express my strong support for AB 342, and urge you to vote “yes” so it can go to the Senate for a full vote.

Specifically, I support AB 342 because it:

Strengthens our downtown economies, many of which have been sluggish in their post-Covid recovery.
Positions our economies well ahead of major flagship events in California (namely the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics) to fully capitalize on the influx of tourism.
Enables our cities to compete against other world-class nightlife destinations.
Supports the LGBTQ community and the protection of queer spaces and nightlife amidst a hostile federal administration.

AB 342 is bigger than just nightlife; it’s a critical investment in our state’s economy, recognizing nightlife as a true economic engine. I strongly encourage you to vote yes on AB 342.
